What's your favorite way to build a content calendar? I go between Asana and Trello myself, but more importantly, does your content calendar have everything you need to power a content marketing creation engine?

All content calendars need:

Title/Subjectwhere the piece is in the processwho is doing the writingwho is approvingwhen it's neededhow it matches up against your content strategykeywords

Bonus items:

who is it for (personas)what kind of content is itwhere will it be publishedsocial postingheadline score from headline analyzervalue proposition it supportsgraphics needed

I wrote about [content calendars](https://www.trishussey.com/planning-content-with-a-content-calendar-and-a-free-template/" class="rank-math-link) and how I use them and have a really basic template to share. I just updated the Excel version to Google Sheets and added some new columns and notes. You can [download the calendar](https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1udykH6aBwewVeCLzizmK_TweVhKhuFEVrk5petf0Bjo/edit?usp=sharing" class="rank-math-link) for yourself.

Now here's the catch about content calendars—you actually have to freakin' use them. You can't fill out a content calendar and call it a day. You need to look at the calendar daily. You need to refill the idea well. You need to see if a piece needs a nudge to get it published. Content calendars are project plans for writing teams. Nothing will get better if you don't use it.
