I think it's a great way to go, especially if you need all the power of MS Office, but lack the MS Office budget. I'm trying to wean my self off Word. I think all it will take is me getting OpenOffice installed on my wife's machine. The file sizes are so much smaller you'll be amazed. Give it a try. The price is right (free).
