A View from the Isle

Brad Feld hopes the next U.S. President should be literate in science–Feld Thoughts – Should the Next President Be Scientifically Literate?–personally I’d go for a literate one.

Brad brings up a good point, though, basic literacy in science is terribly lacking.  I’m not talking about the minutia of science that I picked up over the years (though it does make Trivial Pursuit, hikes and the beach fun), just some of the things that make our world tick.

Is the problem the schools or how science has been made almost arcane?  Is the presentation of science and faux science in the media to blame?

I don’t have many answers, but I do know that science is fun and not so arcane or complex for people to "get".
