Let’s see we have Druids, a Priestess out for blood against the Roman army, love, lust, and death. Okay that sounds like an opera to me! It is, in fact, it’s Bellini’s Norma which kicks off Vancouver Opera’s 50th anniversary season, just like it did in its first season! I’ve been getting a taste of the opera as Sheila has been rehearsing at home with it. You have to love an opera when I get stuff from Sheila like “Oh, so that’s the Italian for slaughter…”
Yes, Norma is in Italian, but don’t worry there are surtitles and you’ll get to be in the Queen Elizabeth theatre for the first opera performance since the renovations were completed this summer. Oh, how do you get this privilege? Even before the vaunted “Blogger Night At The Opera?” You place the winning bid on my extra ticket for the dress rehearsal Thursday night. The ticket costs $15, so let’s start the bidding there. I’ll donate 100% of the winning bid to one lucky local Movember participant (I think I might have to have a mo-off or something).
Let the bidding begin in the comments. Remember this is a good cause so let’s get those bids going!
