I found this today on Toby's blog–Diva Marketing- Unblocking Blogger's Block–and since this never happens to me–yeah right–I thought I'd post this as a public service…
Michael Pollock, Small Business Branding , offers an interesting idea of how to unlock bloggers block.
1. Grab the nearest book.
2. Open the book to page 123.
3. Find the fifth sentence.
4. Post the text of the sentence in your journal along with these instructions.
5. Don’t search around and look for the “coolest” book you can find. Do what’s actually next to you.
Okay so I did this…my closest book was Robert Fulgum's From Begining to End: The Rituals of Our Lives
“Jonathan and Marie Carrie bless you for your part in their marriage”
Hmm. Okay this might not be the fifth sentance (does a phrase ending in a colon count as a sentance?)…the passage is about a marriage ceremony and from what I skimmed it has to do with the whole family, parents and all welcoming the bride and groom into the respective families.
Wow. This does work. Interestingly the next book in the pile is The Audubon Society Field Guide to North American Rocks and Minerals…and page 123 falls somewhere in the picture section of minerals and the pages aren't numbered from 51 to 281…boy am I glad that wasn't on top…
