I’m happy to announce that starting February 1st I’m going to be joining the encryption startup eCrypt as their full time web-social media-community manager guy. This is a very exciting time for me, the new product that eCrypt has in the works is quite cool and could very well spark a whole new interest in encryption for “normal people”. I can’t say too much about eCrypt’s new product or plans, but I can say that I’ll be leading the charge during the alpha and beta (which will be coming soon). What I’ve seen (and used) of the product has me really, really excited and I think when you see it you’ll be excited too.
In the meantime, I’ll be writing on the eCrypt blog and Twitter account talking about privacy, security, and encryption issues and answering questions. As many of you know, this isn’t the first time I’ll be jumping into the arena with helping to launch a product (Qumana was my first) and it’s always exciting.
Why did I choose to get back into product-related startups instead of sticking with writing? Well, first thing the opportunity came up (and it is a mind-blowingly awesome opportunity) and second, this job is a combination of a lot of things that I really enjoy doing (writing, working with new tech, working with/helping users). Final reason? Stability. Yeah, this job one where I can work hard, play hard, and also (gasp) keep food on the table and a roof over my head. Nope nothing is certain in life and nothing is ever handed to you. Hard work, drive, guts, smarts, and a healthy dose of luck are all essential in this world.
So next week starts a new phase in my life. Back to products, marketing, and being the face of a company.
Aw who am I kidding, you guys all know I’ve already started the plans and stuff.
Until next time…
are you moving to colorado then ? i hope not

Thankfully no. All operations are based here in Vancouver. The company is incorporated in Colorado.
