Commune for Victoria geeks? Coworking in Victoria?

Next week I move to Victoria.  I've been in BC for seven years now, and for all this time I've been not only working from home, but also living on the semi-rural Southern Gulf Islands.  Moving to Victoria is a big change for me.  Walking or biking to stores is a real option.  Hanging out in a cafe, also an option.  After reading Ross' post about coworking, I started to wonder if this could be something we could do in Victoria.  I know Flock has an office in Bastion Square, maybe they have space?  Maybe another tech company?

I'm not looking for a permanent office, but a place to come once and a while to work with other folks.  After doing everything from house for so long, I think this could be a nice change.

I like the idea of coworking.  Why not?  Who knows what cool and interesting things could come out of having smart people together?

I've started to take a look at the coworking blog and wiki … nothing coming up in Victoria … maybe I can change that, even if it means people hanging out in my apartment now and then (especially if they bring baked goods!).

I'd be interested in exploring options for coworking or at least just getting together with some other bloggers. I've just moved to Victoria last fall but most of my work is with folks in Toronto, so I haven't made any contacts here. Let me know if you set something up when you arrive.

  5. Not sure if this topic has died off or not, but I haven't been able to find much more about co-working opportunities in Victoria. I just wrote a quick blog post with an idea, if you're Victoria/Southern Gulf Islands and are interested in co-working, check it out:

  7. I know this is a really old topic, but I’d love to share a coworking space with other creative/tech types

  8. looks like this post is pretty old, but wanted to let you know that TheSpace Coworking Lab will be opening up in Victoria this Spring, likely by April. http://www.thespace.ca We are very much wanting to co-create it with the people who will be using it, so get in touch!
